tonight

Tonight, I went to the as-yet-unopened French bistro my friend Josh is working on opening.  I checked it out, played betanque for the first time, had a delicious meal and straight-up MARVELED at the fact that the owners of this place had a frickin’ original Jean Cocteau drawing from the fifties.  WOW.  I must work there.

Then, my wife gave me a ride home and I had an amazing awakening to the opening for my screenplay while riding in the back of her truck, watching the night sky fly behind us.

Then I came home to the long-awaited opportunity to make eggplant parmesan with my new roomie/old friend Veronica.  We got several white eggplants from a free goods party/extravaganze called FREE FEST, which yielded for me also many books, a classy gold watch, an awesome CGI anime movie aaaaaand lots more.  BUT.  The e-parm…wow.  Sliced white eggplant, dipped in pesto/eggs/herbs and Italian breadcrumbs (sometimes twice over) and then fried in olive oil…..wow.

Later, while smoking outside, I excised my inner monologue with the help of Veronica’s cat, who acted interested in my attentions but still avoided the .2 percent lean-in obliged of him to accept.  Naturally, he declined.

‘C’mon man!  It’s not bad to want this!  You’re not weaker for wanting attention!’

He was silent.

‘You’re beautiful, kid, and cool!  Just go with it and quit being insecure!’

Ummmmmm yeah.  Up next: the weirdo 1990 franco-japanime crossover update of Ulysses/The Odyssey that’s got me mind blown.
